MELTING POT CAFE- Concorde Hotel

It has been ages since the last time I went for a buffet dinner, a true hotel buffet dinner, I really miss having buffet, everything seems interesting in buffet. Yesterday, daddy & I, both of us starved ourselves after lunch, we ignored tea-break, empty our stomachs for 'Sawadee' Authentic Siamese Cuisine buffet dinner @ The Melting Pot-Concorde, yum yum...
I couldn't remember when was the last time I dined here, but mum was emphasizing that I have been to this place many times, hmmm... Is that really???

To be honest, I have no idea where to begin. Since it was the Thai cuisine promotion, I would like to start with KWAY TEOW NAM (THAI NOODLE SOUP). This noodle looks like some ordinary fish ball noodle, but its' taste is totally extra-ordinary!!! Although the soup looks clear, but it's spicy!!! The fish balls are very fresh. They serve quite a number of different pounded chili (something which look similar to sambal belacan), all of them are spicy & yummy!!! Because of the spiciness of the chilies, we tend to drink more water. NO! A BIG MISTAKE TO GULP ON WATER DURING A FEAST WHEN YOU CAN EAT ALL YOU WANT! So, my advice is, take less chili, & you'll get a chance to try more food.

This is the HOT SOBA WITH PRAWN TEMPURA. It doesn't look very interesting, its' a so-so taste. I think it will taste better it is to be served chilled, instead of hot.

Although this is a Thai cuisine buffet, but other type of cuisines are served as well. Therefore, not to worry that all the food served will be spicy. This is BAKED SALMON IN PUFF DOUGH served together with grilled vegetables & baked mashed potatoes & their special sauce. I m a 'pie-person', therefore, I'm very picky in choosing pies. But this is simply luscious! The puff is crispy, the salmon is fresh, the mash-potatoes is so soft & smooth (I like it because it's baked!!!). However, for those who are not a fan of sour, please do not be greedy & 'flood' your plate with the sauce, it taste a little sour for me.

Let's now begin with my favourite, DESSERTS!!! I've tried almost everything in this section. My personal preference would be the HOT CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE. The top of the souffle is crispy, the middle part of it is smoothens by the chocolate sauce, & the cake at the bottom carries the souffle perfectly!!! The only statement I can use to described it will be, 'The feeling of Love is so hot in the souffle... Hmmm hmmm...'.

Apart from souffle, please don't forget that this is a Thai cuisine buffet. Therefore, they serve FRESHLY CUT MANGO WITH BLACK & WHITE STICKY RICE. The sticky rice is well-prepared, this is because it fully-cooked, I can't find any single seed of the rice being as hard as uncooked grain. What can I say, it's a cafe in a top-star hotel!!! For sure there is QC (quality control), duhh... Moreover, the mango is exquisite. They are so fresh & sweet!!! I love mango!!! There are so many other desserts to be chosed, for example CENDOL CARAMEL PUDDING, STRAWBERRY JELLO WITH 24 CARAT GOLD, TIRAMISU, BLUE BERRY CHEESECAKE, CHESTNUTS AGAR-AGAR... etc etc.

Summary:
Definitely a place worth going for buffet, lunch or dinner. The environment is very comfortable, the waiters are well-mannered (some of them are very friendly & funny), & the ambience is great. Price-wise is acceptable, it costs about RM90 per pax including tax. Nowadays, RM30++ buffet no longer exists, stop dreaming to be able to enjoy delicacies with the price below RM50. You pay for what you eat. So, do not hessitate, eat as much as you can!!! My advice is, again, do not drink so much of water while you are eating, this will only fail your mission to eat!!!

BIG BIG BOWL

For the past few years, cafes have been mushroomed in a few areas in KL, 1 of the areas is Kepong. This is 1 of the cafes situated at Metro Perdana Barat, Kepong, it's called "BIG BIG BOWL", but not every dishes in the cafe is served big, it's just a gimmick to attract passers-by, & I'm 1 of the victims!!! The food is ok, but nothing special. Moreover, the service was really bad yesterday, sigh... There were not much customers at that time, but the 老板娘's (female boss) attitude was HORRIBLE!!! I'm making my statement clear & to prevent myself from any legal proceedings, I would like to say that the statement I made in this post is not a defamation, it is merely my personal opinion. I have no intention to corrupt others with my opinion. I have no intention to bring down this cafe's business. Please do not interpret me wrongly. Respect the right to freedom of speech. Thank you.

Alright, forget about the legal stuff, let us begin with 豆酱排骨干捞板面 (BEAN PASTE PORK RIBS DRIED FLAT NOODLE). This is 1 of the promotional items. Although it is a promotional dish, the owner did not cut cost. There were plenty of pork ribs, nicely cooked, taste ok. Here comes the attitude-problem-issue. When I asked for 'sambal belacan', I heard the female boss shouted at the waiter who was servicing us, asking him,"What do they want again!!!???". My goodness!!! I thought that when the economy is bad, the service should be good, in order to keep or even get more customers, but what was this lady thinking!!!??? I JUST WANT SOME SAMBAL BELACAN, PLEASE???? However, to be honest, the sambal was good. It goes well with the noodle. When I needed more sambal, I dare not ask from the waiter. Hippopo went to get more sambal for me at the counter. Sigh... [Price: ($) / Worthiness: Good]

扬州炒饭(YONG ZHAO FRIED RICE)
This is an 'abnormal' yong zhao fried rice, because usually, the similar fried rice we ordered in other cafes do not come with tau-ge (bean sprouts), but this do. It's quite tasty & it reminds me of my own fried rice. This is because I like using tau-ge to fried my rice, LoL... This is 1 of their promotional dish as well, it's not big-big-bowl, but it's quite-big-plate, haha... [Price:($) / Worthiness: Good]

Usually, I like to order some side dishes to go with my main course. At first, I wanted to order shrimp wantan, but they only have either 8 pieces of fried shrimp wantan or 8 pieces of soup shrimp wantan, both same price. Therefore, I asked whether they can serve me 4 fried & 4 soup shrimp wantan. The waiter was quite helpful & he went in to asked for us. AGAIN, the female boss shouted at him, telling him off, saying,"If we allow them to order this for the 1st time, they will continue to order like this in future. Just tell them NO!!!". Obviously, we heard that statement she made again, because she was so loud!!! Forget it, I just want food, therefore I ordered these FRIED DUMPLINGS, & I didn't bother to argue with her. Nothing special, just like any other fried dumplings. However, they were served together with some special sambal, a little too sour for my taste bud. [Price: ($) / Worthiness: Fair]

Summary:
All in all, I wouldn't go to this cafe again!!! Not because of the food, it's because of the kind of service that I received. Bad attitude will definitely chase away your customer(赶客)!!! To keep them, not only you have to serve good food, but also, you need to allow your customers to feel comfortable while they are in your cafe.

MOF - JAPANESE SWEETS & COFFEE

Dessert has always been described as the most seductive meal. Most women can never resist its' seduction. I'm one of the slaves for desserts, what to do, I'm a female homo sapien...

Dad was asking, "What should we have for dessert tonight? 'Tong shui'?". As we were at Pavilion, I suggested MOF instead. This is because of their food replicas. It caught my attention & therefore, never ran out of my mind...

SHIRATAMA KURIAN
This is a combination of soft vanilla ice-cream, mixed fruits, kanten jelly, & glutinous rice balls. It comes with a special black sweet sauce made from black prunes & black dates. It is suggested to pour the sauce over the Kanten jelly before eating, but I decided to dip the glutinous rice balls into the sauce before eating. It's so yummy!!! Ways of eating can always be varied depending on the person's creativity, not necessary to follow the traditional way!!!
[Price: $ / Worthiness: excellent]

COOKIE CREAM SHAKE
Personally, I wouldn't order this, because it can be easily found in most cafes or restaurants. My brother ordered because he always fancy milk shake with oreo or chocolate. The cup is very special, but unrealistic!!! Before drinking it, the shake had already been dripping, due to the shape of the cup. On top of the shake, it comes with a scope of soft vanilla ice-cream & half slice of oreo cookie. Why can't MOF just put in 1 whole slice of cookie? Anyway, it tastes alright. [Price: $ / Worthiness: Fair]

CHOCOLATE SUNDAE
This suits all sundae's lovers, not chocolate lovers. Why? This is because, it contains so many toppings, fruits, jelly... etc. However, the taste of it's chocolate ice-cream although is not bad, but isn't rich enough. [Price: $ / Worthiness: good]

ABEKAWA
I have always been waiting to try this dish, abekawa, due to the cartoon 'Crayon Shin Chan'. Shin Chan loves this mochi & he'll cook them by placing them on top of the house heater. It looks easy but it's very dangerous!!! Please do not try this at home, use to oven instead!!! It is served with red bean paste & sprinkled with soybean powder. It's very special, it's texture, the feeling in your mouth is different from other mochi that I've tried. Maybe this is because it has been baked. The combination of abekawa + soybean powder + red bean paste is marvelous!!! [Price: $ / Worthiness: Excellent]

Summary:
I'm in love with this place, I suggest those who go there, try bringing more friends/family members along. Order a few dishes & share among each other. Not because the size of the dish is big, it's because by doing this, people will get closer to each other & you may be able to try out more dishes. But make sure, you or the other person you bring is not affected by any illness!!! Eat safe!!!

DELICIOUS

I bet there will be tons of you out there who had already been to this yummy-licious cafe/restaurant, that's why I did not take photos of any of the cafe's main entrance, a very good excuse, LoL.

I just love this place, it's one of my recent 'pet cafe'. Whenever my friends, any friends, ask me out for a drink, food, or some chit chat, I'll definitely suggest Delicious!

Let's begin with my favourite drink, the CHOCOLATE MELTING POT WITH MARSHMALLOWS, yum-yum... It's so delicious, I don't even know what to say. Stir well, & drink! Mix well, the chocolate flakes & the marshmallows, it is just superb!!! I'm not really into hot drinks, but this is too seductive!!! [Price: ($) / Worthiness: excellent]

I came here for some breakfast, I do not like egg, so I've decided to order something else. I went straight to the side dishes. I ordered their HOMEMADE CROISSANTS WITH BUTTER & PRESERVES. I love croissants, theirs are just nice, because it weren't too big, served in a dim sum basket, it's soooooo cute! [Price: ($) / Worthiness: good]

As I missed British style breakfast, so I ordered SAUTEED BUTTON MUSHROOMS, it reminds me of the days when I was in UK, the good old days. It was quite nice, but a little too oily to be consumed early in the morning, less Olive oil please? [Price: ($) / Worthiness: very good]

I have already had carbohydrate, fiber, fat, vitamins, minerals... blah blah blah, i think, i needed some protein. (as though I'm so health-conscious, hehe). Therefore, I ordered CHICKEN SAUSAGES. They were SO TINY!!! How were they gonna satisfy my tummy!? Anyway, they were simply delicious! Quite tender, but a little salty. Although it did not satisfy my appetite, but it did make me want more. The taste was not like other sausages we found in the market. Hopefully, in future, Delicious will up-size the sausages, please... [Price: ($) / Worthiness: fair]

RICOTTA HOTCAKES
A fancy type of pancakes, taste very 'egg-ish', I didn't like it. However, the honeyed mascarpone taste really good. It so smooth, & not too sweet, just nice! The berry compote plays a very important role here. The sweetness & sour-lishness of the sauce blends in well to cover the egg-ishness of the hotcakes. This dish is best to go with a cup of hot tea, because it is very filling, the tea is to wash things down. [Price: $ / Worthiness: fair]

Summary:
Well, I think I better stop here, or else, I can just go on & on, non stop talking about Delicious. I'll definitely write on something else in future, for example their desserts & pastas. In conclusion, I really like this place. Not EVERYTHING here is delicious merely because it's named DELICIOUS, but most of the food, the environment, the beverages, are superb. Worth going anytime, in any mood!

gasoline cafe

Well, well, well... This is my 1st post as well as my 1st time in Ulu Langat!!! [I'm local KL-ian & I'm Malaysian, please don't be surprised that I have not been to Ulu Langat!!!!] There are quite a number of restaurants & cafes around this area [Ulu Langat Look Out Point], but I was attracted to "GASOLINE" so much by it's designed-logo. I guess it looks like a fierce-looking-princess, LoL...

Alright then, stop the hu-hu & ha-ha, let's begin with some FOOD!!! [Let me clarify something before starting. I'm here for FOOD, not for the VIEW!]

This is 'FRENCH STYLE FRIED RICE', bon appetite! The fried egg is included, no extra charges. Well, it taste not bad. However, it is like an ordinary fried rice, nothing in it taste 'French'. The squid in the fried rice, unfortunately, was not well-cut. It was too big, I nearly choke while I was chewing it. Suggestion: cut the meat & squid into smaller pieces, provide 'sambal belacan' for spicy-eaters. [Price worthiness: good ($)]

SANDWICH TAOFOO
I'm local-Chinese, therefore I know this dish. But, how about the other races or foreigners? This is because it neither looks like a sandwich nor a piece of tofu. It's traditionally eaten in Chinese steam-boat, but here, it was deep-fried. Taste good, good as an appetizer. [Price worthiness: good ($)]

Let me introduce GRILL DUMPLING to you. I'm not sure whether I've ever tasted a grilled dumpling, because, usually dumplings are boiled together with soup, steamed, deep fried or pan fried. This is an ordinary looking dumpling, it tastes a little unusual, but not bad. It will taste even better if it is to be dipped into some sweet & sour sauce (if there is no other option, ketchup or chili sauce will do). [Price worthiness: good ($)]

POWER PUFF GIRLS
A chocolate blend with cream & strawberry sauce. This taste really good! The chocolate blend ain't anything special, but when it's mixed with the cream & the strawberry sauce, the concoction is superb!!! There are various blends like this, worth trying!!! Optional: if you would like more zest, add a scope of ice-cream into it, extra charges needed. [Price worthiness: better than good ($)]

ICED CAPPUCCINO
I need something to perk me up, so I decided to order something containing caffeine. This taste really good as well. Although it's a little 'milky', & I'm not a big fan of milk, surprisingly it was good!!!
[Price worthiness: better than good ($)]

Summary:
As per the above, I think this is a better place to hang out, chit chat, & 'yamcha' (have a cuppa-drink) with friends, family or even by yourself. Food is ok, but the drinks are better. Environment-wise, it was great, nice view, fresh air, but aware of some uninvited guests, INSECTS!!! It's located at a hill, what do you expect!? LoL... Nonetheless, it's definitely a place worth going. Have fun & enjoy!!!
