MELTING POT CAFE- Concorde Hotel

It has been ages since the last time I went for a buffet dinner, a true hotel buffet dinner, I really miss having buffet, everything seems interesting in buffet. Yesterday, daddy & I, both of us starved ourselves after lunch, we ignored tea-break, empty our stomachs for 'Sawadee' Authentic Siamese Cuisine buffet dinner @ The Melting Pot-Concorde, yum yum...
I couldn't remember when was the last time I dined here, but mum was emphasizing that I have been to this place many times, hmmm... Is that really???

To be honest, I have no idea where to begin. Since it was the Thai cuisine promotion, I would like to start with KWAY TEOW NAM (THAI NOODLE SOUP). This noodle looks like some ordinary fish ball noodle, but its' taste is totally extra-ordinary!!! Although the soup looks clear, but it's spicy!!! The fish balls are very fresh. They serve quite a number of different pounded chili (something which look similar to sambal belacan), all of them are spicy & yummy!!! Because of the spiciness of the chilies, we tend to drink more water. NO! A BIG MISTAKE TO GULP ON WATER DURING A FEAST WHEN YOU CAN EAT ALL YOU WANT! So, my advice is, take less chili, & you'll get a chance to try more food.

This is the HOT SOBA WITH PRAWN TEMPURA. It doesn't look very interesting, its' a so-so taste. I think it will taste better it is to be served chilled, instead of hot.

Although this is a Thai cuisine buffet, but other type of cuisines are served as well. Therefore, not to worry that all the food served will be spicy. This is BAKED SALMON IN PUFF DOUGH served together with grilled vegetables & baked mashed potatoes & their special sauce. I m a 'pie-person', therefore, I'm very picky in choosing pies. But this is simply luscious! The puff is crispy, the salmon is fresh, the mash-potatoes is so soft & smooth (I like it because it's baked!!!). However, for those who are not a fan of sour, please do not be greedy & 'flood' your plate with the sauce, it taste a little sour for me.

Let's now begin with my favourite, DESSERTS!!! I've tried almost everything in this section. My personal preference would be the HOT CHOCOLATE SOUFFLE. The top of the souffle is crispy, the middle part of it is smoothens by the chocolate sauce, & the cake at the bottom carries the souffle perfectly!!! The only statement I can use to described it will be, 'The feeling of Love is so hot in the souffle... Hmmm hmmm...'.

Apart from souffle, please don't forget that this is a Thai cuisine buffet. Therefore, they serve FRESHLY CUT MANGO WITH BLACK & WHITE STICKY RICE. The sticky rice is well-prepared, this is because it fully-cooked, I can't find any single seed of the rice being as hard as uncooked grain. What can I say, it's a cafe in a top-star hotel!!! For sure there is QC (quality control), duhh... Moreover, the mango is exquisite. They are so fresh & sweet!!! I love mango!!! There are so many other desserts to be chosed, for example CENDOL CARAMEL PUDDING, STRAWBERRY JELLO WITH 24 CARAT GOLD, TIRAMISU, BLUE BERRY CHEESECAKE, CHESTNUTS AGAR-AGAR... etc etc.

Summary:
Definitely a place worth going for buffet, lunch or dinner. The environment is very comfortable, the waiters are well-mannered (some of them are very friendly & funny), & the ambience is great. Price-wise is acceptable, it costs about RM90 per pax including tax. Nowadays, RM30++ buffet no longer exists, stop dreaming to be able to enjoy delicacies with the price below RM50. You pay for what you eat. So, do not hessitate, eat as much as you can!!! My advice is, again, do not drink so much of water while you are eating, this will only fail your mission to eat!!!
